Comparing routes
With PTV Map&Guide you can also create two routes or two different variants of a route and compare them with each other. This can help you to optimize the order of the stops on a route. When comparing these two routes, all results (distance, travel time, costs, etc.) are also compared. To compare two routes, proceed as follows:
-
Create a route as described under "Creating a route". It does not matter whether you have the results of the route planning already calculated or just create the list of stops.

Once you have completed both routes, click on the <Results> button for one of the two routes. You will now see
-
on the left side the two routes in list form
-
in the middle the two routes on the map
-
on the right side a comparison of the route details
For better comparison, the two routes are shown in two different colors in the list view, the map view and the details comparison view. In the details comparison view, the individual aspects are compared with each other using the mathematical symbols "<", ">" and "=". In addition, the more advantageous aspects are highlighted in color. This makes it easier for you to decide which of the two routes best suits your needs.

These names are then also transferred to the header of the comparison results.

You can set a different calculation mode (standard or dynamic) for each of the two routes. This way you can, for example, compare the same route in both modes. Please note that comparing two different routes in different modes may not produce particularly meaningful comparison results.
